ABSTRAK

Teknologi informasi yang berkembang sangat pesat tidak dapat dipungkiri mempengaruhi perubahan perilaku setiap aspek lingkungan untuk mengimbanginya. Perkembangan teknologi telepon seluler dan peningkatan pengguna ponsel, harus diimbangi dengan sistem layanan informasi yang memadai. Layanan short message service (SMS) masih mendominasi pengguna ponsel. Penerapan layanan SMS akan sangat membantu orang tua mahasiswa untuk memonitor kehadiran atau presensi absensi putra atau putrinya darimana saja. Pembangunan sistem absensi ini terdiri dari komputer server meng-gunakan sistem operasi Windows XP SP 2, bahasa pemrograman PHP dengan basis data MySQL, serta aplikasi-gammu untuk membangun SMS gateway agar dapat diakses melalui layanan SMS dari telepon seluler.

ABSTRACT

Information technology is growing so rapidly that it has influenced behavior changes in every aspect of the environment. The development of mobile phone technology and the increase of mobile phone users, will demand information service system to compensate. Short message service (SMS) services still dominates mobile phone users. Implementation of SMS service will help parents to monitor student’s attendance or absence. The development of the attendance system consists of a server computer using the operating system Windows XP SP 2, the programming language PHP with MySQL database, and application-gammu to build SMS gateway services to be accessible via SMS on mobile phones.
